Accessibility statement
Our goal is to provide digital services that are accessible to everyone, regardless of their situation. Accessibility improves the quality of services and ensures that everyone can benefit from them.
We are committed to complying with the EU Accessibility Directive and the Finnish Act on the Provision of Digital Services (306/2019). Our website, nitor.com, meets the accessibility requirements of levels A and AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2.
This accessibility statement was prepared on 15 May 2025, based on an internal accessibility assessment conducted by our experts.
Accessibility status of the website
The website partially meets the accessibility requirements.
Non-compliance with the requirements and applicable exemptions is listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is not yet fully accessible for the following reasons:
Non-compliance with the accessibility requirements
Critical issues that prevent or significantly hinder use:
The state of the main navigation menu in the mobile view is not announced by screen readers (WCAG 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value).
Keyboard focus may escape the mobile menu and get hidden behind it (WCAG 2.1.2 No Keyboard Trap).
Videos and animations on the website cannot be paused (WCAG 2.2.2 Pause, Stop, Hide).
The filtering functionality of articles and other topics may be unclear to screen reader users (WCAG 4.1.2, 1.3.1 Info and Relationships).
Issues that hinder use:
Some article images have incomplete, generic, or insufficient alternative text (WCAG 1.1.1 Non-text Content).
The contrast of the “Reject” button on the cookie banner is insufficient when hovered over with a mouse (WCAG 1.4.3 Contrast - Minimum).
The tab order of the cookie banner is programmatically last, making it difficult to move focus to it (WCAG 2.4.3 Focus Order).
Form fields and checkboxes on contact and other forms have insufficient contrast, and required fields are not clearly marked visually (WCAG 1.4.11 Non-text Contrast, 4.1.2, 3.2.2 On Input).
The action button on forms is disabled until the form is completed. It may be unclear when the form is sufficiently completed for submission (WCAG 3.2.2 On Input).
Embedded YouTube videos in iframes lack a programmatic title attribute (WCAG 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks).
The breadcrumb trail does not clearly indicate the current page when using a screen reader (WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships).
Minor issues affecting usability:
The alternative text of the Nitor logo linking to the homepage is unclear (WCAG 1.1.1, 2.4.4 Link Purpose - In Context).
Languages in the language selection menu are not announced in the correct language by screen readers (WCAG 2.4.4, 3.1.2 Language of Parts).
The hierarchical relationship of subpages under the main navigation menu in the mobile view may be difficult to perceive for screen reader users (WCAG 1.3.1).
Multiple H1 headings appear on the homepage (WCAG 1.3.1, 2.4.6 Headings and Labels).
The reading order of articles in list view may be unclear for screen reader users (WCAG 1.3.2 Meaningful Sequence).
It may not be obvious that the “Contact” and “Subscribe” buttons open a contact form within the same view (WCAG 3.2.2).
The footer lacks heading levels, which may hinder navigation within the footer (WCAG 2.4.6).
Social media links sometimes lack sufficient alternative text (WCAG 2.4.4).
Breadcrumb navigation is not programmatically marked as a navigation landmark (WCAG 1.3.1).
The “Training” table is not implemented using semantic HTML table structure (WCAG 4.1.2).
The “Register” buttons in the training section have identical names without context (WCAG 2.4.4).

Continuous improvement
We are continuously working to improve the accessibility of our services to ensure they are usable by as many users as possible.
