Unprecedented times of the pandemic only emphasised constant change. The latest update to SAFe® meets these new realities this change has brought for enterprises. Customers’ expectations are changing, supply chains are becoming more complex, and digital technology quickly impacts organisations across industries.

Here are the main areas where the SAFe® framework is evolving:

  1. Introduction of Business Agility Value Stream strengthens the foundation of Business Agility. This will foster rapid learning from sensing the emerging opportunity to delivering the right solution. There are changes also with the introduction of Lean Thinking and Values and SAFe® Principles.

  2. Empowered teams and clarified responsibilities: roles and responsibilities are described more clearly.

  3. Accelerating value flow by defining eight flow properties and eight flow accelerators. Four new articles on flow highlight the flow characteristics at different levels of the organisation.

  4. Enhancing Business Agility: highlighting five business and technology patterns to help structure your organisation.

  5. Building the future with AI, Big Data, and Cloud is addressed with three new guidance articles on harnessing these technologies. Changes also affect portfolio management, funding, and delivery model.

  6. Delivering Better outcomes with ‘measure and grow’ and OKRs. An improved linkage between OKRs to Epics, supporting the transformation itself.

Nitor hosted a free webinar on the updated SAFe® framework on Wednesday, March 22nd. Rami Sirkiä (Managing director, Lean-agile transformations and SPCT & SAFe® Fellow) held the webinar.
