🧑🚀 Brief Description of Your Work
As a DevOps Engineer at Nitor, you work as part of our clients' development teams helping build CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automation that makes developers' lives easier. You help build systems and code that combine automation, reliability, and fast feedback loops, while sharing your expertise so the entire team learns DevOps practices. You ensure that infrastructure, deployments, and automation work smoothly in the background.
From a technology perspective, client projects use different technologies depending on project needs - for example, CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins), Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation, Ansible), container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP), programming languages (Python, Go, Java, TypeScript, Bash), as well as monitoring and observability tools come up. But what matters most isn't individual technologies, but how you can apply them pragmatically to improve clients' development culture and processes.
We apply agile methods, test automation, and continuous delivery in our work. However, more important than following any single tool is independent thinking and a pragmatic approach to applying proven practices.
Even More Concrete Details
Our client projects are typically challenging, lasting from one to several years, where you can truly leverage and deepen your expertise. In most projects, you work as part of the client's development team alongside other experienced Nitorians.

✅ What Could You Bring With You?
You'll excel in this role when you have a deep understanding of both software development and DevOps practices. You understand how modern development cultures and processes work, and can both code automation solutions and build infrastructure. A strong software development background combined with DevOps expertise makes you especially valuable to our clients.
We're not strict about years of experience, but we've noticed that several years of experience in both software development and DevOps practices, automation, and cloud infrastructure helps you act as a value-adding expert in client projects.
You have strong expertise in modern DevOps tools and practices. CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code, container technologies, cloud services, and monitoring are familiar areas to you. Additionally, you have strong expertise in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Go, Java, TypeScript, Bash) and understand how good code is created through teamwork. You can build code, not just configure systems.
Since DevOps Engineer work is strongly focused on collaboration between people, we value excellent interpersonal skills. You need to understand client needs and be able to communicate about technical solutions. The ability to share knowledge and help others learn is valuable.
Fluent Finnish and English language skills are important, as we have clients both domestically and internationally.
The more diverse experience you have, the more opportunities it opens right from the start. However, we don't want to define too precisely what you should be like – the pieces can fall into place in so many ways.
