AI QA Lead

Three Nitoreans, Eveliina Lakka, Karoliina Heikkilä and Ville Henriksson, are standing in the street of New York.

In brief

Position: AI QA Lead

Location: We're primarily looking for someone based in the Helsinki area. The role involves working on-site with the client's teams regularly.

Skills: AI/LLM testing, quality engineering, test strategy, test automation, coaching & enablement, Python,  excellent consulting skills

Description

Are you a QA professional who has been thinking deeply about what testing means in the age of AI and ready to help others get there too? At Nitor, we help our clients build confidence in the software and AI systems they ship, not by following a script, but by shaping the way quality is understood and practiced across entire teams.

🧑‍🚀What does an AI QA Lead role at Nitor look like?

This isn't a role about running test cases or maintaining regression suites. It's about raising the bar. You'll be embedded with a client's QA organisation to help teams evolve how they think about quality in an AI-driven world. You'll work closely with the client's own QA Lead and engineering teams, acting as a catalyst - upskilling, challenging assumptions, and introducing approaches to testing that didn't exist a few years ago.

At Nitor, you get to work on diverse and meaningful projects across industries, focusing on one client at a time. With several active client engagements running, your work could include:

  • Designing and developing ways to test AI systems and LLM-based solutions where established best practices don't yet exist.

  • Using AI innovatively as part of the testing process itself.

  • Building approaches and tooling for testing AI-native systems — including systems that can change or generate themselves dynamically.

  • Combining deep QA expertise, hands-on AI experimentation, and continuous learning.

  • Coaching QA engineers and developers toward a quality mindset fit for the AI.

  • Helping the organisation build sustainable, lasting capability rather than creating dependency on a single expert.

The role is designed to rotate: you'll typically work with a client project for around 3-12 months, then move on to the next engagement. This means you're always working at the frontier of real challenges — and always leaving something behind that lasts.

Our QA practice is evolving and so is the industry

Finnish financial and enterprise organisations are stepping up their AI adoption and their QA teams need to keep pace. The question isn't just "how do we test this feature?" It's "how do we build a culture of quality that works when the system itself is probabilistic, adaptive, or generative?"

That's the conversation you'll be part of. And it's a conversation that requires someone who can earn trust quickly, speak the language of both engineering and business, and lead without authority.

You'll work closely with our tight-knit and skilled community of quality and software professionals at Nitor, and contribute to shaping how we think about AI quality engineering as a practice.

✅ What Could You Bring With You?

  • Solid experience in quality engineering and test leadership. You've led QA in complex, fast-moving environments.

  • A genuine curiosity about AI and hands-on experience (or strong interest) in testing LLM-based or AI-native systems.

  • The ability to coach and upskill engineers. You know how to transfer knowledge, not just apply it yourself.

  • Experience working as a consultant or in cross-team enablement roles is a definite plus.

  • Strong communication skills: you're comfortable with developers, product managers, and senior stakeholders.

  • A mindset that treats quality as a shared responsibility across the whole organisation, not a gatekeeper role.

You don't need to have all the answers on AI testing since nobody does yet. What matters is that you approach the unknown with curiosity, experiment with rigour, and bring others along with you.

🏆 What If You Choose Us?

We believe that recruitment isn't about a company choosing a new employee. You ultimately make the choice. And we can help you with that.

You should contact us if:

  • You want to work at the frontier of AI quality engineering — shaping practices that don't fully exist yet, rather than following a playbook

  • You find it meaningful to leave something lasting behind: teams that think differently about quality, not just a test suite that runs green

  • Skilled colleagues working alongside you, excellent development opportunities, and optimal working conditions are important to you

  • You feel that community spirit and wishing colleagues well are meaningful values in work life

  • You're ok with working normal hours and ensuring that free time and work stay balanced

Your work and daily life are also supported by our diverse benefits and opportunities, for example:
