🧑🚀 Brief Description of Your Work
As a Software Architect at Nitor, you're the technical cornerstone of the team who doesn't just design but also implements. You're often the strongest coder on the team, capable of solving the most complex technical challenges while guiding the overall architecture in the right direction.
The most important aspect of your work is integrating clients' business focus into technical solutions. You build systems that combine performance, cost-effectiveness, and beautifully simple, maintainable code. You also ensure that development continues smoothly even after the original consultants have moved on to new challenges.
From a technological perspective, client projects may use technologies such as Java, Kotlin, JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, React, C#, cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP), and testing frameworks - the technology combination varies depending on the project. However, what matters most isn't individual technologies, but how you can apply them pragmatically for clients' benefit. Sometimes you'll also get to dive into functional programming, such as Clojure.
We apply agile development methods, test automation, and continuous delivery in our work. However, more important than following any single methodology is independent thinking and a pragmatic approach to applying proven practices.
Even More Concrete
Our client projects are typically challenging, lasting from one to several years, where you can truly leverage and deepen your expertise. In most projects, you work as part of the client's development team alongside other experienced Nitorians. Get to know your future colleague Ville Saalo's story and how he grew from a young developer to an experienced architect at Nitor.

🤝 We Continuously Develop Our Software Architecture Expertise
We have experience implementing significant, technically demanding solutions. Our client satisfaction is top-notch, and we continuously develop our operations.
Our gaze is firmly on the future. When you become our colleague, we believe it will take us another step forward – while we look for assignments that support your career and are technically interesting. With us, you get to create the kind of work life you envision, influencing our shared future.
Your future architect colleagues value high technical expertise, continuous learning, and a genuine desire to do quality work for clients. If the pieces fall into place, you'll complete this group just as you are.
✅ What Could You Bring With You?
You'll excel in this role when you have a deep understanding of how digital services work and are built. You can both design and implement - you combine strategic vision with practical execution.
We're not strict about years of experience, but we've noticed that around 10+ years of experience in software development and architecture design, especially with consumer-facing digital services and products, helps you act as a value-add in client projects.
You have strong expertise in modern technology stack - you master more than one programming language, for example Java, Kotlin, JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, React, or C#. You have experience with REST APIs, cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and testing frameworks. You also know code reviews and understand how good code is created through teamwork. Functional programming expertise and mobile application development experience are advantages.
Since communication is important in a software architect's work, we value excellent interpersonal skills. You need to understand client needs (and challenge them when necessary), and be able to present and justify your solutions to both technical teams and other stakeholders. Fluent Finnish and English language skills are important, as we have clients both domestically and internationally.
The more diverse experience you have, the more opportunities it opens right from the start. However, we don't want to define too precisely what you should be like – the pieces can fall into place in so many ways.
