🧑‍🚀 About your future role

At Nitor, a software architect is often the team's most experienced programmer who is able to build the most critical aspects of a system and help and coach other team members. Merging our customers' business focus into your work is vital - it is essential that the solutions you build embody performance, cost-effectiveness, and a simple yet beautiful, sustainable code. As a software architect, ensuring that the customer can effortlessly develop the solution further when the original consultants are no longer part of the customer's team is equally crucial.

Depending on the project, your tools usually consist of Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, REST, databases, cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP), various testing frameworks, and CI/CD tools. At times, you may also utilise your possible functional programming skills, e.g., with Clojure.

In our work, we apply agile development methods, test automation, continuous delivery, and other proven approaches to programming. Instead of strictly following a particular method or framework, we value independent thinking and a pragmatic approach to applying proven methods in practice.

✅ What is needed to succeed as a software architect at Nitor?

  • We see Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Angular, REST, cloud services, testing frameworks, and continuous deployment tools as valuable skills for a software architect.

  • You have around ten years of experience in software development and architecture design from different products or services, allowing you to work as a value-adding expert in your customer projects.

  • We value excellent communication skills: For a software architect, it is crucial to understand (and, sometimes, challenge) the customer's need and have the skills to present and justify the chosen solutions.

  • Code review skills.

  • Additional points are up for grabs if you possess knowledge of functional programming and developing mobile applications.

  • Professional proficiency in Finnish is considered an advantage in the application process.
